here’s some construction going on around the top end of Fitzroy Street in St Kilda that’s got us here at Broadsheet pretty excited. One of our favourite Melbourne chefs, Andrew McConnell, is opening a restaurant later this month, and has been documenting it on a tumblr.

Projects of Imagination are designing the space, and have been working hard for months, with Dion Hall heading up the project. As you can imagine, there’s a lot that goes into the making of a restaurant before it’s ready for the diners, and pieces of this process have been pasted up on the Golden Fields tumblr, including colourful wallpaper options, the new coffee machine and light fittings with dangling electrical wires.

With a history that has seen Andrew in the kitchen at restaurants including Circa in St Kilda and Three, Two, One in Carlton as well as Cumulus Inc. and, of course, Cutler & Co, he’s is back down south, giving the bay-side suburb a new, casual McConnell eatery.

If you’ve strolled down Fitzroy Street you might have seen some rumblings out the front, but to get a closer look at the space and to follow the team as they put the final touches on Golden Fields, check out their tumblr.
