CafeSmart: Roasting Beans For the Homeless

Food & Drink

Support the homeless by signing your cafe up as a CafeSmart venue.

B

ack for its second year, StreetSmart is once again urging coffee drinkers to help support Australia’s homeless. On Friday August 10, participating CafeSmart cafe or coffee roasters will donate $1 from every coffee sold to a variety of community-based programs to help those without a permanent roof over their heads.

Last year, 175 cafes from across Australia raised $47,477, a figure that, while fantastic, organisers hope to smash this year. Participating Victorian cafes will have the challenge of attempting to beat last year’s VIC/TAS/SA state champions Three Bags Full, who were also the second best fundraisers nationally.

Cafes such as A Minor Place, St ALi, Mitte, Wide Open Road, famish’d and Fitzrovia have already signed up, but there’s still plenty of time to join. So if your cafe would like to lend its support to invaluable homelessness programmes in your local community, visit the StreetSmart website, where you can also download a map featuring all of the participating venues.

Use your caffeine addiction for good, not evil, and gather your friends for a CafeSmart coffee this August.

CafeSmart will take place on Friday August 10.
