A Feast at the Broadsheet Cafe
After a huge 11 days at the Broadsheet Cafe we hosted a feast to celebrate. O pening and running a cafe for 11 days with no running water is no small feat. But that's exactly what we did for this year's Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
A project like the Broadsheet Cafe requires the hard work and generosity of many people; from the collaborating cafe operators, to the milk and food suppliers, to those that provide the furniture and magazines. So at the end of a hugely successful festival we asked Adrian Richardson and his team at La Luna Bistro to come down to Crossley Street and cook us all a celebratory feast. After packing down the cafe, we transformed the space from cafe to dining room with a long table down the centre which was quickly piled high with oysters, charcuterie, giant sausages, lamb shoulders, pigs heads and, the pièce de résistance, two whole suckling pigs. (A big thanks to the guys at Gingerboy for the use of their kitchen mid service.) It was all happily washed down with Grolsch and Jamsheed wines. It was quite the finale to a huge week of coffee at the Broadsheet Cafe. Thanks again to all those involved and to all of those who came down for a coffee. <<
