The result of the partnership between Bridget McCall and Nicholas Van Messner, LIFEwithBIRD, their designs tread the line between simplicity and modernity. Trench coats and well-cut dresses sit alongside jumpsuits and their distinctive prints, often in sheer fabrics. In-house leather bags and jewellery from Australian designers complete the mix.

Although situated very different locations - the historic GPO, a tiny Flinders Lane nook, an industrial terrace in Brunswick Street, and a space on the busy retail strip of Chapel Street - the stores are tied together by their all-white interiors, presenting a blank canvas against which to present the collections. Brunswick Street has retained an original steel factory-style window with concertina awning and continues the industrial feel with a counter made of stacked wooden packing pallets. The gallery-like GPO space boasts high ceilings, tall windows and a rotating installation space featuring work from artists such as Britt Salt.

It’s clear LIFEwithBIRD is striving for a little extra something in their retail experience, while at all times keeping their crisp, occasionally conceptual, clothing at the centre of everything.
