Designer Fleur Wood’s stores are an eclectic mix of extravagant royal boudoir and a bohemian artist’s studio. At the GPO, gold-rimmed mirrors line the walls and ceilings, vintage prints are scattered over an antique-inspired table and scented candles are randomly placed about the store. The dressing room curtain, meanwhile, looks to be splattered with artist’s paint, adding a certain charm and quirkiness to the usual shopping experience.

The petite store is not as spacious as Fleur’s other two boutiques (Chadstone and South Wharf) but still houses the flowing fabrics for which she is renowned. Her pieces combine contemporary styles with refined, lady-like class reminiscent of Victorian tea parties. The Spring/Summer collections blossom with Liberty prints and colour, while the Autumn/Winter ranges tend to be toned down with smoky hues and natural tones. Always consistent is Fleur’s use of natural fibres such as cotton, linen and silk.

The label is also home to a tutu collection for little people, Tutus du monde, and a selection of books including Fleur Wood’s own cookbook Food Fashion Friends, bound to inspire the hostess within.
