Dansk, as you can probably tell, isn’t backwards in coming forwards about its Danish origins; but you’ll find some choice picks from Sweden in the store as well.
There’s a certain Australian affiliation with the Nordic style and a quick browse of the Dansk Windsor store – which has a comforting Australian feel to it to – confirms this, as if there’s a psychic connection between twins from opposite ends of the world; an understanding of each other’s style and way. We’re like an Elliot to their E.T. Or is it the other way around?
It’s a long, warm and welcoming space, with big floorboards, rope-hung racks and large window displays compete with banana lounges fit for the Australian summer. Men and women are equally represented in a way that Danes and Swedes excel at, with clothing that is casual and seemingly basic, but never boring. So expect Northern Euro quality from the likes of D.Co Copenhagen, Minimum, Tiger of Sweden and Ilse Jacobsen among others.
There are props all over the shop and it makes for a fun and interactive experience when you’re next up the boho end of Chapel Street. It’s an end of town that continues to be a locals’ paradise, under-appreciated by outsiders. But that’s probably the way they like it.
