Natalie Bloom, Australia’s first lady of cosmetics, began her empire in 1993 from a spare room in her family home. Inspired by aromatherapy and imbuing products with essential oils and botanical ingredients (that actually work) proved to be Bloom’s recipe for success.
The range has since burgeoned to include bath, body, skincare, tanning and home-fragrance lines while keeping up with beauty trends by introducing mineral makeup, a range of organics and a diffusion collection. Their lip gloss has become iconic among beauty fanatics.
Bloom’s flagship store opened in 2008, its shelves laden with brown sugar, fig, green tea, French lavender and sweet almond infused products. “I drew heavily on the theme of ‘modern nostalgia’ to create a fresh, sophisticated and whimsical space,” Natalie recalls.
The store impresses a sense of homeliness and familiarity upon the shopper. Assorted quirky trinkets, organic sweets and natural home-cleaning products by Murchison-Hume complement Bloom’s offerings. An inspiration pin board and the petal-strewn pages of Natalie’s first book, Beauty in Bloom, add personality to the space and further impress the ideal Bloom lifestyle.
