From our favourite local stores to the big retail chains, we're going through the racks to bring you our top picks in menswear.

O

nce the garb of French fisherman off the coast of Brittany, the navy and white striped Breton sweater has evolved from its nautical origins to a covetable knit. Incu’s Wood Wood ‘Paris’ pullover is a distinctive choice for its shoulder button detailing and new take on the traditional stripe. In soft wool, this is a great investment piece you can wear year after year.

American Apparel offer the best big brand interpretation of the Breton stripe. How does it rate?
Not bad: The fabric is quite weighty (84% cotton, 16% synthetic) - it actually feels like a cosy sweatshirt.
Pretty Good: Shape and fit are surprisingly good - the length and the boat neck is just right (not too wide).
Very Good: What I like most is the actual stripe - cream (rather than white) and navy, and the wider set stripes give it a subtle point of difference.

Found at: Incu - Wood Wood ‘Paris’ knit $219
American Apparel - Sailor Stripe Pullover $64
