Skin and Threads’ new GPO space continues the theme of their first – clean lines, timber highlights and beautiful knitwear.

Q

uality basics label Skin and Threads quietly swung open the doors to their second store this week, setting up shop in the light-filled back corner of the GPO.

Perched on the Little Bourke Street end of the building, the space is airy and bright, despite its small size. The wooden fittings of the Armadale flagship are evoked in the timber-veneer shelving stretching the length of the wall, ending in a tucked away sales desk. The remainder of the space leaves the garments to do the talking, with three walls and a centre rack given over to the label’s simple but exquisitely made basics.

The store’s opening also sees the launch of the spring/summer 11/12 collection, a sophisticated mix of linens, knits and cottons mixed in with newly introduced accessories. Washed-out colours dominate with dusty pinks, whites and greys backed up by a scattering of light navy. Open weave knits top slouchy, lightweight cotton pants and loose fitting dresses are perfect for lazy summer days (hopefully not too far away).
