Local denim label Note to Self collaborates with Sydney brand Pass Port to make chinos you can skate in.

By Mara Coson, 12th July 2011

B
y appointment to Trent Evans’ Sydney-based skate label Pass Port, Max Olijnyk’s Note to Self label has just released two new chinos in two fresh colours (sand and navy) designed for the comfort of skaters.

After a long sampling and testing process, the two have gotten it down pat: well-selected fabric, deep pockets, a button fly with metal clasp and a properly dashing slim fit that still allows skaters room to move with ease both on the street and in the bar.

With all the care he puts into his chinos, it’s hard to believe that Olijnyk’s pricing doesn’t demand the same deep pockets that his pants boast. “I want to do more stuff like this in the future,” he says of Note to Self, a label known for its custom and high quality jeans. “Not just collaborating with like-minded people, which is great, but making clothes of a high quality and with a lot of thought behind them… but keeping the price down.”

As Olijnyk is himself a skater, realising the importance of giving the right cut and comfort more weight than the price tag makes his collaboration with Evans’ Pass Port a skater’s godsend.

You can find these chinos at The Store, 239 Flinders Lane, Melbourne; Up There Store, level 1, 15 McKillop Street, Melbourne; or online at the Pact Store.
