Bul designer, Virginia Martin, cut her teeth in New York with Proenza Schouler and soaked up the sun on the Californian coast - is now focusing on providing a seaside oasis for the Melbourne CBD dweller. Bul’s latest offering of pared back neutrals and interesting prints (no doubt influenced by her time at Proenza Schouler) are a perfect combination of structured and flowing: fluid t-shirts in jersey and silk alongside corseted dresses and tops in natural yellows, greens and blues. Not surprisingly, swimwear is a large part of the 2010 spring/summer collection too. Martin has also injected her accessories with a similar stylish nonchalance with sandals and slouchy tote bags in ecru and tan somehow worthy of both summer holiday road trips and a nine-to-five existence, like the rest of the collection.
