Oscar & Wild opens the second of their coveted boutiques in Camberwell.

E

nter Camberwell’s newly opened Oscar & Wild and you will instantly feel as if you’ve been transported to a souk in Marrakesh.

The second store (the other is at 167 High Street, Kew) from owner and buyer Paloma Hatami was designed by Matt Gibson Architects and features a distinctly Moroccan feel; something of a homage to Hatami’s Persian roots. Customers cannot help but be instantly drawn to the store’s gold arches as well as a stunning Mashrabiya screen, which allows light in and out of the apertures, emulating the Middle Eastern sun.

The racks and central display unit are awash with garments and accessories from near and far. International labels include Patrizia Pepe, J Brand and Missoni, with BCBG Max Azria soon to be in store. Antipodean pieces come from Cable, Kate Sylvester, Uscari and Ginger & Smart. The jewellery is vintage, Moroccan-inspired or sourced from the likes of Erin Wasson’s Low Luv. Additionally, Hatami has an eye for hot new labels and, as such, offers the likes of LP33.3 and new local label Steele. Go wild.
