Stones Throw is an independent record label out of Los Angeles, California, stabling the brightest underground hip hop and soul artists in the world.

It is home to MF Doom, the recently famed Aloe Blacc and of course, Mayer Hawthorne, the paradoxical soul singer who's faithful representations of classic genres made him a world wide success in 2009.

Hawthorne's first LP, A Strange Arrangement', is a jumble of smooth soul and energetic blues, tied together with horns and Hawthorne's unwavering croon. It is an eclectic album, with three or four stand out singles. The best single on the album is The Ills, a balanced mix of old and new, with modern melodies and old school recording techniques.

Mayer Hawthorne is playing at The Corner Hotel in Richmond on February 29, 2012, to celebrate the release of his second studio album How Do You Do.
