Holiday Road at Nomofoto

Wed 26th September, 2012 – Sat 13th October, 2012
Nomofoto
631 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne

Melbourne photographer Natalie Jeffott started her artistic journey on the U.S. roads with her family and a camera. Upon her return, she unrolled her film and revealed a series of vivid snaps of the bits and bops of her trip, leading to the creation of Holiday Road, the artist’s solo photography exhibition at the Melbourne’s Fringe Festival.

While road tripping ‘Griswold’ family style, Natalie discovered the often overlooked and ordinary, yet graphic, detritus not seen in glossy tourist brochures or travel magazines. She made stops at abandoned gas stations, motels, old school diners and neon graveyards to capture the understated details of rural landscapes.

The result is a series of colourful photographs that, despite their vastness, are full of life.

Co-produced by Nicholas Fitzgerald, the exhibition will be held at the new photography studio Nomofoto in North Melbourne, formerly the shopfront of Arthur’s Circus.

The exhibition opens on September 26th at 6pm.
