f you don’t know about Saturday in Design (SiD) it might be because you are not in the design or furniture industry.

Saturday in Design is on tomorrow, and occurs every second year in Melbourne on the first Saturday in August (it’s in Sydney on the alternative years). It is an annual trade event for the design community that involves some of Australia’s premier designer furniture, finishes, fixtures and lighting showrooms as they open their doors to architects, designers, students and the design-savvy public to view products in their showroom.

This year, chairs designers Thonet will be launching a couple of pieces at SiD from a temporary showroom upstairs at Cumulus Inc. Supply the restaurant (and several others) with their classic range of bentwood’s, Thonet are reintroducing a collection of limited edition pieces from the original Thonet factory in Poland. They will also be launching new Tolix chairs, stools and tables.
