Design Capital Digital Program
Design Capital Digital Program
July 14th — July 25th,

The Design Capital Digital Program will include an industry session addressing the opportunities for businesses, public organisations and various levels of government to make better use of mapped data and internally held knowledge for increased commercial and social productivity.

Session topic: Making the invisible visible: Converting under-utilised data into digital information and knowledge for community and commercial benefit. Using data intelligently is a critical element of smart cities and business. This session focuses on three examples of how utilising existing data within digital strategy can increase productivity, create business opportunities and make for a more fluid social environment.

Speakers and areas of expertise include:

Dan Hill, Senior Consultant at Arup, will discuss how the City of Melbourne is planning to make wayfinding an interactive, live experience that will benefit public and private users of the city.

Sam Davy, Brand Director of Crumpler, will describe how companies such as Apple, Inc (Davy was the previous global Creative Director of Apple) and Crumpler build engagement with products using websites as a tool primarily for delivering education rather than focusing exclusively on marketing.

Dave King, CEO of The Royals, will provide information on how companies such as Fitness First and News Ltd develop digital products. King will also discuss how building an audience through social networking strategies helps a company or organization understand its audience, and what steps local, state and federal governments need to take in order to participate in user generated content.
