Broken Social Scene are of a rare breed. They come together in a musical collective, with as few as six members and as many as nineteen. The group's linchpins, Kevin Drew and Charles Spearin, met in one of those movie-worthy encounters, "Kevin came up to me and said, 'You look like a guy who likes Tortoise', and Tortoise was the icebreaker." Now two decades down the track, and the group have launched their fifth album, Forgiveness Rock Record. As its title suggests, forgiveness is its raison d'être. During their shows expect to be asked to yell out 'I'm sorry!'. Spearin believes everyone has something to be sorry about, "The world needs to exhale right now."
