Founded in 1967, Tolarno Galleries has remained at the forefront of Melbourne commercial art spaces and has developed a strong standing and high expectation of quality. With an insightful edge that shines through in its represented artists, it also hosts some of the biggest names in Australian contemporary art, four of which have represented Australia at the Venice Biennale.
From famed photographer Bill Henson and hyperrealist sculptor Patricia Piccinini, whose reputable interdisciplinary practice explores life and nature in the digital age, to the touchingly self-deprecating video and performance art of Victorian College of the Arts graduate Anastasia Klose, and the visceral and ambiguous wax and glass sculptures of emerging talent Benjamin Armstrong.
With artists such as these on their walls, it's no surprise that the gallery program attracts attention from collectors, curators and critics from around the world.
