The Narrows is something of a revolution in the commercial gallery scene. Established in 2006 by illustrator/graphic designer Warren Taylor and painter Anna Ephraim, its main aim was – and still is – to join the dots between the worlds of design and contemporary art. Unsurprisingly, since it opened The Narrows has managed to showcase global art and design communities to a much greater extent than most galleries trading in conventional object-based art could ever hope to. Its programme of exhibitions has redrawn traditional boundaries within contemporary Australian art and has introduced local audiences to works that have hitherto escaped the conventional gallery network.

In addition to its exhibitions, The Narrows also produces high quality, limited edition publications and posters in collaboration with exhibiting artists; in fact, Taylor’s poster invitations designed for each show are works of art in themselves and have become highly prized collectors’ items.
