Lighting designer Volker Haug moves to a new studio in the Abbotsford Convent with some new designs to keep things bright.

Y

ou may have seen some of his fixtures keeping the place alight at Sensory Lab or making things moody at Berlin Bar, but where you will most certainly see the light is at the Abbotsford Convent, where inventive Melbourne lighting designer Volker Haug has recently opened a bright new studio.

To coincide with his new space, Haug is also debuting a new range of wirey light designs, including the Crazy Daisy. The ceiling mounted lampshades are hand woven from electrical cable and available in black, white and red.

Known for his industrial, minimalist design style, Haug designs lights for contemporary spaces, utilising unique materials such as electrical fittings, synthetic wire, crushed aluminium lamp shades, copper pipe and other more general light fittings. He also produces the globes for lights range, which he stencils and coats himself.

Haug’s lighting range consists of table, wall and pendant styles and can be found in numerous homes, stores, cafes, bars and restaurants around the country.
