“Out the back of the shop in Fitzroy there’s this funny room that is like a big, ultra-bright cave”, Abigail Crompton explains of the pop-up shop Third Drawer Down are erecting. “We’re going to have projects from overseas in there for six to eight weeks at a time.”

It’s going to be like a guest shop, where Third Drawer Down will house some of their favourite designers and retailers from overseas. First in the mix is New York decoration and set designers Confetti System, duo Julie Ho and Nick Andersen.

These guys have a dream job making party decorations for a living. They are known mostly for their large diamond-shaped piñatas, which have been seen in window displays in Opening Ceremony and Urban Outfitters, at runway shows for United Bamboo and on stage with bands including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beach House.

For Third Draw Down, Confetti System are making a series of piñatas and other party paraphernalia such as party hats, streamers and large garlands. They are also sending a playlist of music that will be playing in the shop.

Confetti System will be available in the Third Drawer Down guest shop from Thursday 19th August to Saturday September 23rd. Also from New York, retailers Partners & Spade will be the following guests.
