Known for its bars, restaurants, cafe’s and stores (Ladro, A Shop called Milton, Greville Records, Sicilian Orange, St Edmonds, Miles Mason Trading Company, Aesop and the Greville Street Bookstore) there is a bustling vibe that permeates all the way to the train station, but somewhere along the lines lost its cohesion.

Recently a group of like-minded Greville Street community members banded together to form Greville Street Common. The idea of Ladro co-owner Ingrid Langtry, the committee was formed to bring the ‘soul’ back to Greville by creating events and initiatives that invite people to see, read, hear and experience the strip.

From October 20 to 31, traders, retailers, offices and locals will take part in the first project initiated by the committee, Illumination, where all will illuminate their windows and shopfronts in orange light to promote unity and creative expression, drawing more shoppers to the light-filled strip.

"Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow,” says Emma Beattie, of the Arts Series Hotel Group. “It is a colour associated with joy, evoking optimism, warmth and energy.”

To coincide with the event, Ladro are also serving mineral water and OJ from the Daylesford mineral water bike keg over the weekends.
