The boys from Mondo Trasho have reopened as Nicholas & Alistair.

By Caroline Clements, 27th August 2010

M
elbourne creative duo Nicholas Mesiano and Alistair Knight are launching their newest venture; a showroom full of international, original vintage furniture, decorative art and objects.

More like a gallery than a store, Nicholas & Alistair is housed in a hundred-year-old warehouse on Johnston Street, where they have been as Mondo Trasho for the past 13 years.

While the location - in it’s original guise - had become somewhat of an institution in Melbourne, the focus of the store has changed slightly, the concept is more defined now than is used to be.

Less of a designer furniture shop and more of a gallery of unique one-off antiques, Nicholas & Alistair is specialising in an eclectic mix of European Modern and American High-Style. Personally sourcing all pieces from abroad, the duo are showcasing a well-edited collection of interior objects: seating, tables, storage, lighting and sculptural pieces.
