Stylish yet practical, the Monocle Library Lamp will light up your reading den and hold up your books at the same time.

W

orking in collaboration with Monocle magazine, Swedish architect and product designer Andreas Martin-Löf has created a lamp that certainly befits the neatly designed magazine.

Mounted on an L-shaped bookend, the lamp is designed to be as functional as it is pleasing to eye. It is crafted from solid brass and features an old-school yellow woven cord, complete with electronic dimmer (for those nights when you want to set the mood). This is a no-frills, no-nonsense piece of homeware that does two jobs at once. Handmade in Sweden, the library lamp will hold your books and magazines in place as well as illuminate your bookshelf with an ambient glow.

Designer Andreas Martin-Löf’s work spans contemporary architecture, furniture design and exhibition installations, making his work well suited to Monocle’s forward-thinking design aesthetic.

Purveyor of Swedish goods Swensk will be stocking a limited edition run of the Monocle Library Lamp, which perfectly aligns with Swensk’s focus on slow fashion, functional basics and timeless products that last.

The lamps were so popular in Sweden that the Swedish design museum Röhsska Museet acquired one for their permanent collection.

The Monocle Library Lamp comes packaged in a box custom-designed by the Monocle team and will make the perfect holiday season gift.

The Monocle Library Lamp will be available at Swensk for $275.
