T

he organisers of Hot Barbeque have taken cues from the Point Nepean Music Festival and relocated the event from the inner city to the Point Nepean Quarantine Station in Portsea. It’s obviously a very different environment and feel to the Birrurang Mar setting of previous years, but take it from us: the venue is beautiful. Stage straight ahead, ocean to your left, green grass to your right. It’s a wonderful setting to do anything, let alone have The Presets, Sneaky Sound System, Grandmaster Flash and Bertie Blackman (to name a few) fire up the dance floor of dirt. Add a food market featuring fresh, local produce from the Mornington Peninsula, and you’ve got a solid day out by the sea (barring any weather catastrophes, of course). It’s on on Saturday January 16, about two hours’ drive from Melbourne; or there is a bus service if you’re game.
