Promoting sustainability, community and creativity, the Garage Sale Trail is elevating the humble garage sale to a national level. The City of Melbourne is a sponsor of the local event and thoroughly endorses its aims to cultivate a more sustainable Melbourne, as well as to help grow those neighbourhood relations.

The Garage Sale Trail does this by encouraging individuals and groups to not only clear out some clutter and make some money out of it, but to also get involved with their local community by translating their online activity to their real lives.

Last year’s stats showed that around 80,000 people found treasure in another's trash at over 1600 sales.

Head to Hosier Lane to find a hidden gem amidst the scribble of street art and grunge. Dresses, accessories and hundreds of shoes will be on offer and proceeds will go towards supporting homeless youth in Melbourne. The City Library will also be hosting a monster book sale, so pick up a read for a dollar.

It’s happening this Saturday May 5, so come with time to rummage and sniff out a bargain.
