Heide Museum of Modern Art is turning 30 years old and to celebrate, the museum is showcasing highlights of its vast collection. Over 200 works by more than 80 artists are now on display, spanning almost a century of Australian art.

Forever Young: 30 Years of the Heide Collection traces the history of Heide’s collection, from the early days when patrons John and Sunday Reed hosted burgeoning artists Sidney Nolan, Joy Hester and Albert Tucker at Heide, to the museum’s contemporary works by leading Australian artists such as Juan Davila, Kathy Temin and Patricia Piccinini.

The exhibition spans all three gallery spaces and includes rarely seen works alongside masterpieces such as Sidney Nolan's Kelly at the Mine, which was painted at Heide. The original house plays host to those who spearheaded the modernist movement in the 30s, while the iconic second house shows works from the 50s to 80s, when the Reeds were collecting Australian heavyweights like Charles Blackman and John Brack. The newest gallery shows off works from the 80s onwards.

Forever Young: 30 Years of the Heide Collection is now showing until March 2012 at Heide Museum of Modern Art.
