Not too much, not too little, Coco Flip's Coco Pendant lights are influenced by a balanced design philosophy.

By Caroline Clements, 11th August 2010

D
uring the State of Design Festival we stumbled across this lighting range by Melbourne based interdisciplinary design studio, Coco Flip.

Taking its philosophy from the Swedish word ‘Lagom’, translating roughly to ‘not too much, and not too little’, Coco Flip’s approach to design balances a largely conceptual evolution of ideas, with a more pragmatic and technical approach, strongly influenced by materiality and design process.

These Coco Pendant lights are made from turned Victorian ash and spun aluminium and are available in black and white.

Other innovation designs in the pipeline for Coco Flip include: the Loop, a modular table and shelving system that works as furniture or sculpture; the Rocker, a plywood rocking chair; Canvas Pendant lamp shades; and the Elk Coat Rack, laser cut aluminium in the shape of a moose-head.
