ast year the So Frenchy, So Chic franchise brought the unofficial soundtrack of the French Film Festival to a Melbourne audience with a live performance by folk-pop duo Cocoon, and indie-bluegrass band Moriarty at The Prince of Wales. Australian's have once again been given the chance to let go of their clichéd French fantasies of baguettes and macaroons for a real taste of the eclectic airwaves of France, when homegrown chanteuse, Berry, and post-punk, nova-bossa supergroup Nouvelle Vague, deliver the aural flavours of France.

Right now Berry is the bright young star of French music. Her debut album, Mademoiselle, went gold in France. She is everything you would imagine a young French singer to be. Her sweet looks complement her striking voice and elegant songs. And this chanteuse isn't afraid to tackle the big issues, in the sweetest of ways. She takes a poetic and sophisticated look at love, but don't let this fool you. Her presence on the airwaves is all the more bewitching on stage.

Nouvelle Vague almost need no introduction. Now with three albums to their name, this group, led by producer/arrangers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, and sung by a bevy of female vocalists, are now renowned for their knack of taking the songs you love, and making you fall in love with them all over again. On their latest album, 3, the group have reworked a handful of standout tracks from the late 70s and early 80s by artists including Depeche Mode, The Cure, and Sex Pistols, and reworked them into their particular gentle bossa nova style.
