Another Time, Another Place by David Bromley
Prolific pop artist David Bromley adds two more strings to his bow with the launch of a photographic collection and series of handcrafted throws. B y his own admission, Australian artist David Bromley has an “obsessive addiction to creativity”. This artistic energy has seen his pop sensibility stretch across painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and film.
Now Bromley is adding two more strings to his bow with the launch of Another Time, Another Place at Melbourne interiors' emporium, Capocchi.
“I’m a convert from lost to found art. It’s the air that I breathe. Without it I would be gasping for air,” says Bromley. Featuring in this collection is a series of photographs that are a haunting and intimate departure from the female nude and Boys' Own motifs that Bromley is renowned for. With only 12 editions of the 18 banners produced, they are set to become highly collectable. A series of throws also forms part of Another Time, Another Place. Each quilt features an iconic Bromley image that has been printed onto fabric. Indian artisans then stitched it onto a vintage fabric backing from Bromley’s personal textile collection. So what’s next in Bromley’s never-ending story? “Jewellery, skateboards, surfboards, a skateboard film and some really big pieces of art for some big buildings,” says the prolific artistic entrepreneur. A bit of a mixed bag, but an interesting one no less. Another Time, Another Place opens today (April 8) at Capocchi - 941–951 High Street, Armadale. <<
